The Construction of the Sacred Stupa " Ruwanwelisaya "


Ruwanwelisaya is one of  the most sacred Buddhist Stupa in Anuradhapura. It was build by King Dutugemune in the 2nd century BC. The Stupa is very large and painted in white. It is an important symbol of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Many devotees come here every day to worship. They offer flowers, light lamps, and say prayers. The surrounding area is calm and peaceful. There are beautiful stone carving around the stupa. It is also a place with great historical value. Many tourists visit this place to learn about Sri Lankan history. The stupa has been renovated several times over the years. It still remains strong and beautiful today. Ruwanwelisaya is a proud heritage of Sri Lanka.
